SR A1A/Collins Avenue from 5th to 15th Street
City of Miami Beach
EAC provided the design and plans preparation for the milling, resurfacing, restoration and rehabilitation of State Road A1A (Collins Avenue) between 5th and 15th Street in the City of Miami Beach. This section of SR A1A is a multimodal urban transportation corridor that passes through the heart of the City’s historic district, one of the biggest tourist attraction and entertainment districts in the nation. It efficiently handles its multiple modes of transportation, these include: roadway, pedestrian walkway, rollerblade / scooter / skateboard route, bicycle path, mass transit corridor, and parking facility. The density of people passing through this corridor makes it the prime economic generator for the businesses in the area. As such, it was important that the improvements were sensitive to the historic character of the roadway, as well as minimize the impacts to the businesses, residents and users of the corridor. Specific aspects of the scope of work included: Mill and Resurface S.R. A1A (Collins Avenue) from 5th St to 15th St.; Re-striping of the roadway to create median left turn lanes while maintaining the existing through movements and on-street parking; Drainage Improvements through the use of deep wells; Sidewalk replacement with ADA improvements and limited curb and gutter replacement; Utility Adjustments; Maintenance of Traffic; Decorative Lighting and Signalization and Landscaping
