Boca Club/Camino Real Bridge over the Intracoastal Waterway
Palm Beach County
EAC is responsible for the Engineering and Environmental Study for this Historic Bascule Bridge.
The existing bridge is a circa 1939 rolling lift bascule bridge that carries Camino Real across the Intracoastal Waterways. The bridge’s age and character make it potentially eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. Because of the bridge’s potential historic value, an exhaustive analysis of the different improvement alternatives will be performed to derive a solution that avoids/mitigates negative impacts.
The general objective of this Engineering and Environmental Study is to provide and document information necessary for Palm Beach County to reach a decision on the type, designs, and location of proposed improvements related to the Boca Club/Camino Real Bridge, which will be provided by EAC. In addition, EAC will report and develop alternatives to improve/enhance the existing two-lane undivided roadway with provisions for bicycle and pedestrian traffic, the bridge and the safety along the corridor, considering all viable alternatives and alignments. The study will also consider all social, environmental and economic impacts and will set forth mitigaion efforts.
