Bridge Structures — Bridge Repair/Rehabilitation

Tom’s Harbor Bridge Repair

Client:
Monroe County Engineering Division
Location:
Duck Key, Florida
Service:
Transportation Engineering
Project Overview
This project involved a complete deck replacement of the narrow two-lane bridge which serves as the only connection between Duck Key and Overseas Highway (US-1). The bridge deck replacement phase construction was a challenge since one lane on the bridge had to be kept open at all times for alternating two-way traffic. The project also included repairs to prestressed beams with severely corroded strands, the installation of new pile jackets with cathodic protection and repairing cracks and spalls in End Bents and Intermediate Bent caps.
