EAC provided structural design services for the MiamiCentral Station – Brightline, as well as post-design support. The viaduct is an elevated guideway structure, built 50 feet above ground level for All Aboard Florida and Tri-Rail passenger trains. EAC collaborated with the New York City architectural firm – Skidmore, Owings & Merrill (SOM) – on the design of the viaducts distinctive and prominent V-shaped columns. These columns enhance the aesthetics and open layout of the station’s entrance. To maintain the station’s high-quality environment, EAC’s design also employs context-sensitive vibration impact mitigation, which will prevent vibrations from trains spreading into the station area. As an integrated component of the MiamiCentral Station, the design of the viaduct is an example of the sensitive balance of aesthetic form and function.
